Connor McDavid had an assist on Leon Dricetel’s game-tying goal on Tuesday, moving him to 800 NHL points.
After leaving the scoresheet after 40 minutes, McDavid made three points in the third, helping his club oust the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2.
The Edmonton Oilers captain is the fifth fastest player to reach the milestone, behind Wayne Gretzky (352), Mario Lemieux (410), Mike Bossy (525) and Peter Stastny (531).
McDavid achieved this in his 545th meeting at the Pittman Circuit. That was the 103rd point of his current campaign. He retains a 20-point advantage over teammate Draisaitl, his closest pursuer in the scoring column.
A few minutes later, the first overall pick of the 2015 draft hit the target for the 43rd time this season, scoring 801 points without much expectation.
The Flyers capitalized on a chance to send the duel into overtime on a power play with 2:48 remaining, but McDavid wasted no time ending comeback hopes with his 44th goal, an abandoned net.
Stewart Skinner sealed the victory after stopping 22 visitors’ shots. At the other net, Carter Hart allowed three goals on 26 shots.
