Outfield player George Springer was injured during this match.
He left the match with a left ankle injury after falling embarrassingly while trying to catch the ball. He was limping as he was escorted off the field by the team’s coaches and was later replaced by Corey Dickerson. Jays manager Charlie Montoyo revealed after the meeting that Springer had a slight sprain and that his condition would be reassessed on a daily basis.
Springer, 31, hits 0.274 this season, with 16 home runs and 35 RBIs in 48 games.
He has already missed this year’s matches with a thigh muscle injury.
Jays was 1 vs 7 tonight with two players in the scoring positions and nine players left on the pillows.
Lewis Torrens hit Homer from three games in the seventh at the expense of Trevor Richards. Jared Kilinc also hit a long ball that was 6-3.
