Microsoft often tries to get users to use its products by self-promotion, such as Recently using his Edge browser. The publisher does this again using Windows 11 File Explorer. A tester detected an ad message in the latest version 22572 of the operating system for developers.

Other testers also mention PowerPoint template ads. Microsoft denies the ads and states that these are simple recommendations. However, the difference is far from obvious and cannot be permanently disabled. They can be rejected, but they can come back later.

Messages is also located in the Start menu and on the lock screen. Note that Microsoft Editor ads are also seen in the Windows 10 taskbar.
In short, Microsoft tries to position its advertising messages wherever possible. However, the publisher can back out if enough testers and users express their dissatisfaction.
