Passenger bus company Megabus announced Friday the construction of a new route between Ottawa and Toronto, the day after Greyhound announced that it would permanently end its remaining domestic routes in Canada.
The new service, with the double-decker conveyor vehicles, will begin on Thursday May 20. It will operate Thursday through Monday, with two flights per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, serving Ottawa, Kingston, Scarborough and Toronto in both directions.
In Ottawa, you’ll depart from Saint Laurent Station in the east of the city.
The carrier’s vice president of sales, Colin Emerson, told Global News that the company is exploring options for another route east of the Canadian capital.
He also indicated that the lines of the transport company Toronto – Kingston – Montreal and Toronto – Niagara Falls continued to operate during the epidemic and that the company is “fully committed” to continuing those routes.
Last Thursday, Greyhound put a definitive end to its remaining inland routes to Canada, specifically Quebec and Ontario, “due to the continuous decrease in the number of passengers” in these provinces.
