why did you call harvest moon? Well, in the past, farmers had to rely on the moon to light them in the field after sunset. This lighting was especially crucial at the end of summer, which corresponds to the harvest period.
In North America, it is also a tradition to give each full moon a specific name. The names often come from the First Nations, who used them to follow the seasons. So it is called the full moon of September corn moonbecause it indicates when the corn must be harvested.

Being closest to the autumnal equinox, this full moon rises around the same time as sunset. This therefore means that it is characterized by a weak period of darkness. From September 8 to 12, the moon will be visible with more than 95% of the time.
