The 250 companies participating on Wednesday and Thursday at the Jobs and Continuing Education Fair at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal will attempt to fill 10,000 jobs, in the context of a labor shortage.
The exhibition organized by L’Événement Carrières in a virtual and face-to-face format will be an opportunity for employers to fill positions that have remained vacant, while labor scarcity is likely to continue.
To address this particular situation, which affects several sectors of activity, more than 77% of the companies participating in the exhibition plan to hire retirees to fill the labor shortage, according to an internal survey.
The vast majority of companies (91%) believe that work-life balance, the use of social media and telework are the best ways to attract future young employees of Generation Z (born after 1997).
According to the Career Event survey results, more than 70% of respondents indicated that interpersonal skills behaviors were more important than professional skills attributes.
