Jewels stolen from an actress in Cannes

Jewels were stolen from her hotel room from Hollywood actress Judy Turner Smith, who is at the Cannes Film Festival, as we learned from the Judicial Police in Nice on Monday.

A police source told AFP that an “investigation is underway”, confirming information received from Nice Matin and the magazine The Hollywood Reporter.

It was not immediately clear if the jewels belonged to him or if they loaned him a trademark, a common practice during the Cannes Film Festival.

This source said that the theft took place “Friday in her hotel room, and the actress and her entourage were detained by the police during the day,” stressing that the value of the jewelry does not reach tens of thousands. It does not represent a “significant amount” in light of the amounts involved in previous news on the Cote d’Azur.

“No path is ruled out, we can’t say anything at the moment,” the same source added.

Discovered on the poster of the movie by American director Melina Matsokas “Queen & Slim” (2019), Jodi Turner-Smith discovers the story of police control of the wrongdoing caused by a black couple in modern America.

A British actress by nationality, she was raised in a family of Jamaican descent, first in Great Britain and then in the United States. She is this year’s guest in Cannes for discussions devoted to the place of women and minorities in cinema, Women in Motion.
