defender under the radar

Jayden Struble returns to Northeasthern for one NCAA final season

Jayden Struble is one of the most interesting prospects for the Montreal Canadiens. The defender was drafted in the second round by the team in the 2019 draft and has been in the news a lot since then, especially because of his physical game.

You know like me that the main interested party has been wearing the Northeasthern University Huskies’ uniform for three years, as he was a teammate of another hopeful CH defender, Jordan Harris. You also know that the latter finished last season in Montreal after officially ending his college career.

However, no one knew what Strobel’s decision would be on whether he would return to school for a final year to complete his undergraduate training, or whether he would move on to the Professionals.

This is the answer we have today. As Marco D’Amico reports in the following paper, Strobel will return to college next year.

In the end, this makes sense. This is for many reasons.

Jayden Struble will have the opportunity to play an expanded role next year as one of the most experienced players in the league. He was already listed as assistant captain last year (Jordan Harris) and will have great responsibilities as leader under training.

The defender will definitely get it Fat minutes and you know as much as I do how important that is to the rest of his career.

Why jump to the pros now to play scores – 15 minutes in Laval per game, while you go back to the league for 25 per game? It makes a bit of sense for a young 20-year-old defender who wants to keep developing.

The coming year promises to be significant in his development and he seems to be aware of that. He knows what he needs to do to take the next step… the ball is now in his court.
