Iran: Revolutionary Guard announces the release of the seized Vietnamese oil tanker

Tehran | On Wednesday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the release of the Vietnamese-flagged tanker that it had recently seized.

Sepah News, the official website of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, said that “the oil tanker that was seized by Sothes was released by court order after it was emptied in Bandar Abbas of oil belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The commander of the Islamic Republic’s ideological army, Major General Hossein Salami, during a meeting with naval officials, praised “the determination, intelligence and courage of the children of Iran who defeated the Americans.”

He mocked the American account of the incident, describing it as a “big lie”.

The two countries, on Wednesday, gave two conflicting accounts of the recent incident in the Arabian Sea, in which Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized a Vietnamese-flagged tanker.

The Islamic Republic’s ideological army claimed, in a statement, that it had recently thwarted an attempt by the US Navy to seize an oil tanker carrying Iranian oil in the Arabian Sea, which the Pentagon vehemently denied.

The Vietnamese authorities announced Thursday that they are “working closely” with Iran to shed light on the seizure of the tanker, adding that its 26 crew members are in good health and being treated well.
