The Aspas Anjou Tennis Open, an international men’s tennis tournament, will be held from the 17th to April 24 at Angers Tennis Club. This year, no plastic packaging will be distributed. Tritan water bottles will be distributed to players and referees.
The 22nd edition of the Espace Anjou Open will take place from 17-24 April at the Angers Tennis Club. Organized in partnership with the Pays de la Loire region, the Department of Maine-et-Loire, the City of Angers and the Espace Anjou, the tennis tournament is one of the most important tournaments in the region.
For the first time in two years, the men’s tennis tournament will be held in “normal circumstances” Fabrice Felicien, a member of the Divisional Tennis Committee, explains. The sporting event is open to all and free until Thursday, April 21st. From Friday 22 to Sunday 24 admission is priced at 5 euros.
Say goodbye to plastic
Big news this year, no plastic bottles will be distributed to players and referees. To replace them, 200 water bottles were made for the tournament. The water bottles are made in France, from Tritan, a transparent heat-resistant polyester.
Even if it is a change of players and referees, it is not a surprise. Water bottles are gradually replacing plastic ones, and this is already the case for the Paris-Bercy tennis tournament or the Open P2i tournament in Trélazé. Even if this change is not yet mandatory, although it is highly recommended, Fabrice Felician believes that plastic bottles will soon be permanently banned near stadiums.
