Hurricanes lose two big pieces

Hurricanes lose two big pieces

Nothing was going well for Rob Brentmore’s band Saturday night at Ball Arena in Denver. In addition to seeing Fredrik Andersen leave the game, his team lost 7 to 4 against an avalanche.

Two weeks into the playoffs, Carolina has to ignore that the injury isn’t too serious. Judging by the footage you can see in the header of the video, Andersen appears to have had trouble with his left knee after fast, back-to-back motions. Most disturbing is that this injury occurs late in the game, when the match was already out of reach for the Hurricanes.

And Andersen was the goalkeeper with the best number of goals against average in Saturday’s games. With 7 goals allowed, he now has a respectable 2.17 average, with Igor Sheshterkin sitting on top at 2.05. Goalkeeper Rangers hit the ball in the afternoon against the Red Wings.

The injury insult in all of this is that the Hurricanes also lost their captain’s services during the match. Jordan Stahl was harshly examined by Cal Makar and did not return to the game. Staal scored two goals in deflections earlier in the game.

In a win, 7 players from an avalanche get at least 2 points. Cal Makar was unexpectedly released from the results sheet.
