Elon Musk’s daughter changed her name to cut all ties with him

Elon Musk’s daughter has submitted an official request to change her family name along with her gender in order to sever all ties with her father, according to documents seen by AFP on Tuesday.

“I no longer live with my biological father and I no longer wish to be associated with him in any way,” the young woman wrote to explain her request made the day after her eighteenth birthday.

Born Xavier Alexander Musk, she requested that she be called Vivian Gina Wilson so that her name would match her gender.

Hence she wishes to take her mother’s maiden name, who divorced from Elon Musk in 2008.

The application was filed in April in a Santa Monica, California court, but was revealed this weekend by several US media outlets.

The richest man in the world had a total of eight children: six with Justin Musk (née Wilson) in the 2000s, one of whom died a few weeks after his birth, and more recently, two with musician Grimes.

The Tesla and SpaceX chief, also in the process of buying Twitter, has in the past written posts on the social network criticizing the fact that transgender or nonbinary people ask to be identified with specific pronouns, including this tweet from December 2020: “I fully support Transgender people, but all these pronouns are aesthetic nightmares.”
