Eidos-Montreal: Behind the scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy

The Guardians of the Galaxy (2014, 2017) movie series (and Volume 3 scheduled for 2023) produced by Marvel Studios has arrived in theaters. As is often the case, Planetary’s hits have fallen off in many productions, particularly in video games or on music albums.

for his next game Guardians of the GalaxyEidos has unveiled a new video showing the evolution and inspiration that led to the creation of the Marvel Universe character.

Eidos-Montreal Artistic Director Bruno Gauthier-Leblanc is taking extra care in designing each character, to make sure they draw inspiration from the Marvel Extended Universe, while also fitting in with the game’s original story.

“We wanted the Guardians design to stay true to the story we created, while ensuring that the Guardians of the Galaxy that fans will adore are instantly recognized. We created this fun, dysfunctional family by combining elements from the Marvel comics and the past we imagined for them, giving each Guardian a unique look. It fits with the game mechanics.”

Personalities

Star-Lord, a self-proclaimed gang leader, a space pirate who loves rock ‘n’ roll, has a personality that seems to froze into the ’80s.

Drax, the destroyer, an expert in combat, counts his victories by the scrapes on his body. The Artistic Director explains that Drax’s design also represents the environment of Katath, his home planet.

Gamora, the most dangerous woman in the universe, shows strong style and her typical black and white attire. Caricature You receive some killer decorations so you are ready for battle at all times.

Rocket and Groot, united in friendship, have also inspired their developers. Rocket wears a Groot bean on his little beard. Groot wears a belt on his back that allows Rocket to use him as a turret.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Will be available on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4 and Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and PC (digital), plus streaming on GeForce NOW on October 26, 2021. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Edition For the Nintendo Switch, it will also be available on October 26 in select regions.
