Did Ed Sheeran say no to King Charles III?

Some rumors have already claimed that the “Shape of You” interpreter didn’t want to perform on the stage scheduled to celebrate the event in Windsor this past Sunday. Then some pointed to the reason at hand: the rejection of the monarchy after revelations about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

However, the answer is simpler than that. “I was never invited,” Ed Sheeran told SiriusXM for Transparency.

There is no disagreement, either, between the artist and the British royal family as to the root of this non-invitation. “I think if they went online and searched for ‘what is Ed doing on May 6th’, they would have found out I was playing in Dallas. I think that’s what happened,” he added.

Katy Perry and Lionel Richie performed on the stage set up at the foot of Windsor Castle to celebrate the coronation of the 74-year-old monarch and his wife, Queen Camilla. Among the artists who performed, the audience was also able to praise, among others, the Take That group (without Robbie Williams), Nicole Scherzinger, Paloma Faith or Andrea Bocelli.
