Dental surgeons have denounced viral dental practices

The Association of Dental Surgeons of Quebec (ACDQ) is launching a campaign to educate young people about the dangers of some of the dangerous dental practices that are becoming increasingly popular on social media.

Via capsules produced with TikTok influencer Antoine, ACDQ hopes to reach young people to discourage them from adopting viral dental practices without knowing the long-term repercussions.

Many practices such as filing teeth or home solutions for teeth whitening are problematic.

“You have to talk to your dentist before you do anything because there are things that work like buying kits from the drugstore [pour se blanchir les dents]but to make other recipes for charcoal paste with lemon juice and brush your teeth with that, in the long run, these are not very winning solutions for your tooth enamel, ”explains the head of the Dental Development Center, Dr. Carl Tremblay, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

Therefore, a series of videos aimed at raising awareness among young people will be launched in the coming weeks.

“It’s on Antoine’s TikTok account which is followed by over 200,000 guys, so it’s a good group of people. There will be one video a week in April with a new topic every week,” Mr. Tremblay continued.

That is why the campaign called “Verified by Your Dentist” is underway and will continue throughout Oral Health Month.
