Edmonton Oilers, lucky charmer and cheerleader Ben Stelter, who cheered and watched the team in their last playoff round, died of cancer at the age of six.
Young Bin was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, last March.
an unforgettable night
On March 24, the young warrior lived an unforgettable evening. Stelter joined his idol Conor McDavid and the Oilers in their match against the San Jose Sharks. Before the duel, he set himself alongside MacDavid for the national anthems. Finally, he attended a press conference after his country’s 5-2 win with striker Zach Heymann.
“Ben, you are a true warrior and an inspiration to us. Your inner strength, determination, courage and friendship shines throughout the hockey world and especially within our team. I will miss your pre-game compliments. All of our thoughts and support go to the Stelter family,” Evander Kane said via Twitter.
“We are saddened by the passing of our dear friend, number one supporter, lucky charm and inspiration, Ben Stelter,” Oilers wrote on Twitter.
“Hipster-friendly tv trailblazer. Problem solver. Infuriatingly humble introvert. Reader. Student. Subtly charming bacon maven.”
