Carnival Cruise Line officially resumed its voyages from Australia this weekend, with Carnival Splendor returning to sea.

It has been three years since sea travel from Australia ceased. Welcome to this long awaited recovery journey.

An induction ceremony took place in the company of line leader Christine Duffy.

“Today’s festivities are just a taste of what’s to come for Australia. We’ve been looking forward to this return for a long time and we’re excited to see guests back on board, ready to have fun and experience all the beauty Australia has to offer,” said Christine Duffy.

“Also, we look forward to more fun in Australia next month when we welcome the arrival of our newest ship, Carnival Luminosa, in Brisbane.”

Locals Joe and Van Huddleston, two Australia-loving cruise lines, also took part in the opening ceremony.

As the first guests back on board, the Huddlestons had something very special to celebrate: their 80th cruise on a Carnival Cruise Line ship.

Carnival Splendor is now at sea for a four-day cruise. The liner departed for the majestic Moreton Island in Australia.

The ship offers several cruises around this destination throughout the year.
