Joe Biden, 80, underwent surgery in February for a “small” lesion in his chest, which on examination turned out to be cancerous, his doctor said Friday, noting that “all the cancerous tissue was successfully removed.”
The precancerous lesion, which was discovered and removed during the US president’s routine medical examination on February 16, is a “basal cell carcinoma” and “has no tendency to spread or cause metastasis,” the practitioner specified in a report released by the White House.

He wrote that this distinguishes it from more “serious” forms of skin cancer, such as melanoma.
Kevin O’Connor also said that the place where the lesion hit “healed very well”.
At the end of the medical examination on February 16, the doctor stated that Joe Biden “spent a lot of time in the sun during his youth” and that, before becoming president, he had previously had surgery for precancerous lesions.
It concluded at the time that the 80-year-old, who plans to run for a second term in the 2024 presidential election, was “in good health” and “fit” to serve.
