The PGA Tour announced on Thursday that Australia will host Melbourne’s Sandbelt’s as part of a long-term commitment to host the 2028 and 2040 President’s Cup, a biennial team tournament.

The venue for the 2028 Presidential Cup will be announced later.

The tournament was held on three previous trips to Royal Melbourne in 1998, 2011 and 2019.

Under the administration of the late Peter Thompson, the international team defeated the United States in 1998, while the United States won in 2011 and 2019.

“Since the opening of the President’s Cup in Melbourne in 1998, Australia and its enthusiastic fans have played a key role in the development of the President’s Cup,” said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan.

“As the event travels to new corners of the world, we are committed to being in the Melbourne and Sandbel region, which is highly regarded by our players and fans around the world.”

The President’s Cup returns to the Quill Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina in September this year after a one – year delay due to a Govt-19 infection.

United States Presidents Cup Captain Davis Love III on Wednesday named the pair of Jack Johnson and Fred as his Quail Hollow Assistants.

Led by Captain Tiger Woods, the United States won its eighth consecutive Presidential Cup in 2019, defeating International Melbourne 16-14 in Melbourne.

The United States dominated, winning 11 of the 13 matches.
