Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that the deal to buy 29 Boeing AH-64E Apache helicopters will be delivered from 2025.
The Australian government will order 13 additional MH-60R Romeo (Seahawk) helicopters from Sikorsky, one of which will replace the same type of helicopter lost in 2021.
The helicopters will replace the Royal Australian Navy’s six MRH90 aircraft with a contract worth A $ 2.5 billion (US $ 1.74 billion). Romeos will be available from 2025, bringing the Australian Navy to 36 units. All 41 NH90 TTHs of the Australian Army are to be replaced by US helicopters (UH-60M Black Hawk?) But no official decision has been made yet.
As a reminder, Australia last year decided to separate its entire NH90 aircraft from its Armed Forces, three months after the cancellation of the submarine agreement with France, officially linked to problems with helicopters.
