People over the age of 45 in Quebec who received their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine before April 3 will be able to deliver their second dose this weekend, while CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale will provide 8,000 doses without appointment.
CIUSSS is changing its attack plans over the weekend after the government announced that it will introduce second doses to people who have received AstraZeneca. The interval between the two doses was reduced from 12 to 8 weeks on Thursday.
This means that people vaccinated before April 3 will be able to benefit from an additional 8,000 doses that will be received Friday morning and immediately redistributed without an appointment between Saturday and Tuesday.
Everything will run on a “first come, first served” basis, determining the administration of the vaccination campaign, until the doses are consumed.

CIUSSS still maintains 150 doses without an appointment at the University of Laval this Sunday, between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.
“We will bring back the other clinics quickly, that’s guaranteed.” CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale spokeswoman Melanie Otis explains that we also have vaccines for cars coming.

The CISSS de Chaudière-Appalaches also announced a similar initiative for the weekend, at the convention center in Levis. Between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, people over the age of 45 who have received their first dose of AstraZeneca for more than 8 weeks will be able to receive their second vaccine, without an appointment, on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The second meeting for these people will be canceled automatically upon check-in at reception.
“We are calling on people over the age of 45 who received their first dose before April 3 of the AstraZeneca vaccine to take advantage of the progression of the second dose in order to obtain complete immunity faster,” confirms regional vaccination director Marie-Ève Tanguay.
Other clinics will also be introduced in other centers in the region.
