Apple’s AirPods Max firmware update has reduced the quality of noise cancellation. A strange fact for the brand’s high-end headphones.
In general, updating the device software improves its operation or at least corrects problems. It’s rare to find that updating one of its devices can actually reduce its performance.

According to the site, once the update is installed, the headphones’ active noise reduction is less effective on bass. On the triangular level, the site also notices a very slight difference, but it is almost imperceptible this time.
The firmware update was rolled out in May, several months ago, without causing any much fanfare from users. Sign that the proposed change should not be that important. Either way, Apple didn’t announce it publicly at the time of its rollout, and it’s not clear why the company decided to lower the discount level on its headphones.
A future update of AirPods Max may fix this change in behavior. Hopefully, the company will not introduce this update to further advance the potential second generation AirPods Max.
