A tax specialist would have harassed his boss so much

A former Deloitte tax expert has been accused of so severely harassing a boss he allegedly fell in love with, that the company even had to hire security guards to protect her.

He did not stop for 15 months. An official notice was sent to him, but he persisted. The victim was so frightened that on several occasions she had to sleep with her friends. She was so fearful for her safety that officers were assigned to guard her house.”e Patrick Lavrinier at the opening of Philippe Dube’s trial, Tuesday, in a Montreal court.

The 30-year-old has allegedly been committing his crimes since the summer of 2020, a few months after he was hired by Deloitte as a corporate tax analyst.

Then he was placed in a team specializing in this field, but soon fell in love with a boss.

“You turn me upside down and I can’t control myself in your presence,” the defendant reportedly told the woman days after staring at her in the office.

Uncomfortable, she would force herself to remain professional, while explaining to him that their relationship was just a business one.

Track it down at the grocery store

However, this was not appropriate for the accused, who was going to follow the president as she went to buy groceries.

“I had gone running errands and when I lined up, even ten seconds later, he came behind me, she testified on Tuesday. I thought it was a strange coincidence, he doesn’t know where I live, and I never told him where I was going or what time.”

However, the person whose identity is protected by a court order says she found out that this may not have been a coincidence. During a discussion, she recounted that she learned that Dobby had realized that she was the one who had given him the date.

During this meeting, he would then accuse her of “playing with his feelings, his head and his heart.”

full of messages

Dobby was finally going to lose his job. But that didn’t stop him from harassing the woman by inundating her with emails, texts, photos, and even videos.

She was going to ignore all these messages for a year, but that wouldn’t have stopped Dobby. Even worse, he would have begun to believe that she had been appointed specifically to seduce him, according to the evidence the Crown intended to provide.

“He believed there was a conspiracy by Deloitte against him,”e Lavrinière to the jury, adding that the accused had gone so far as to communicate with the victim’s mother, even though she had nothing to do with the whole thing.

The victim, enraged, finally responds to Dobby’s letters pleading with him to stop, but the latter apparently did not want to accept.

He told her, “It’s for life.”

The trial, presided over by Judge Miriam Lachance, is scheduled to last about a month.
