A dense science festival and a hat head for the Astronomy Club

Several activities were planned throughout the week, as part of this national event, under the auspices of the Ministry of National Research and Education, and their theme was “Climate Awakening”.

An exhibition was presented to the public on “Astronomy and Climate” as well as on “Light Pollution”. A new partner joins the previous partners. This is the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park (PNR), represented by Jean Leroy, Energy Transmission Project Manager. This highlighted the damage that public lighting has caused to biodiversity and announced the “starry sky reserve” project in Limousin, on the Millifax Plateau.

In addition, workshops were held by the Astronomy Club on “Les saisons”, which are open to school groups, and a drawing competition was held for the prizes to be won. In all, during the week, nearly 500 students participated in the various activities.

Regulus Telescope

On Saturday, October 15, Philip Martinez, a paleoclimatologist and oceanographer, gave a lecture on the Earth’s climate: “A past for what future? In the evening, a vigil was held under the stars by Regulus, as part of the operation “Le Jour et la Nuit.” Confirmed Isabel Hevoz, Mayor of Thivers, the municipality’s support for this club “which has shown loyalty and perseverance for thirty years with a continuing interest in education with schoolchildren but also with the general public.” Regulus is our identity and participates in the culture of the region with influence throughout New Aquitaine.”
