The event occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. when an Acura drove directly into the lobby while several customers were sitting inside the restaurant located at 2960 King West.
Sergeant Coté, of the Sherbrooke Police Department, said at the scene: “It appears that the lady who was driving the car wanted to park the car in front of the door of the restaurant.” But for some reason, just as she was about to finish parking the car, the car began to accelerate rapidly towards the restaurant. »
The officer added that no one was seriously injured.
However, the couple who were inside the white Acura were treated by paramedics.
According to information collected at the site, but not confirmed, a girl, about 8 years old, who was inside the restaurant, was slightly shaken due to the unexpected entry of the vehicle.
Although the car completely blocked the entrance to the restaurant, all customers were able to leave without problems. Sherbrooke firefighters were also called to intervene to remove piles of material that collapsed on the car. It was finally removed from the vestibule shortly before 7 p.m.
