St. Philip’s Residence for Seniors (RPA) acquired a robotic cat last Saturday to meet the needs caused by a staffing shortage in its catering team.

It’s a $20,000 purchase that the lodging staff actually considers as an investment rather than an expense.
“I used it and set up three tables at the same time, and it saved me a lot of steps and time,” says a waitress. “loved it!”

The 16-plate robotic cat is not only used for serving dishes, but also for returning dirty dishes to the dishwasher.

General Manager Johane Nadeau would like to clarify in an interview on LCN that she has not purchased a robot to eliminate positions.
“I had technology come back to help, to make sure my on-site team would be less tired after a shift,” she explains.

In addition to filling the gaps caused by labor shortages, the robotic cat has been adopted by customers.
“It’s ‘fun’ and entertains people,” says this resident.

Ms. Nadeau indicates that the company intends to acquire three of these robots, but “the future will tell us if we are heading towards more than that,” she adds with a smile.
