Tax season has officially begun and this year, Quebec’s motto is to plan ahead due to a labor shortage affecting all of the county’s accounting offices, specific to the regions.
“Make an appointment right away,” said Eric Pronovost, Malette’s principal. There is a shortage and many accounting firms already have a closed list of their clients.

According to tax experts, it’s an interesting tool for those who file simple and don’t necessarily have a large property, but others who file complex may have unpleasant surprises.
Normally, the deadline to file a tax return is April 30, but since this year it falls on a Sunday, taxpayers have until May 1 to file.
