Farewell to the 37-year-old Formula 1 legend, known as Lewis Hamilton, as the driver recently announced that he would change his surname to his mother’s.
“I’m really proud of my family name. In fact, none of you might know that my mother’s surname is Larbalestier. I’m about to add it to my name, but I want my mother to connect with Hamilton.”
The Mercedes driver adds that he wants his mother’s name to continue, even though she took her husband’s name when she got married. It is not known if the change will take effect from this weekend for the start of the F1 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Although he holds the record for the most wins (103) on the Formula 1 circuit, this season Hamilton (soon to be Larbalestier) will try to become the driver with the most world championships, surpassing seven-time champion Michael Schumacher.
