Quebec’s Matthew Darchy, who is likely one of the most serious candidates for the position of general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, will be interviewing for the same job with Anaheim Ducks later this week.
This news was reported on Saturday afternoon by Eric Engels of Sportsnet. The hockey expert had applied the day before so Darche and Daniel Brière would be two finalists for the chair that Marc Bergevin left vacant.

However, the Journal de Montreal, via Marc de Voy, indicated that the new CH general manager may be known as of Monday. With this interview in California, is Darchy now excluded from the race?
Tampa Bay Lightning’s assistant Julian Presboa, the former Quebec hockey player was caught in the duck eye earlier this season, but the latter didn’t have immediate permission from the Bulls to speak with Darchy, unlike CH.
A McGill University management graduate with a major in Marketing, the 45-year-old Montrealer was appointed Director of Hockey Operations in Tampa in May 2019.
The Ducks suspended former GM Bob Murray on November 9. The latter had submitted his resignation the next day, declaring that he would pursue a program to combat alcoholism.
The 60-year-old has been in office since 2008.
