Molière 33 plays in prose and poetry. He is the most widely read classic author in France after Guy de Maupassant, with an average of 500,000 copies of his works sold each year. Today, Molière is translated into more than 100 languages, including Persian, Malay, and Wolof. His work depicts 372 characters, including six Winnell, five valiers and four cletandris, fashionable first names at the time.
A playwright, but also an actor, he himself will play more than 32 roles. In 1908, Molière was adapted for cinema for the first time by Georges Millier, who set his sights on miser.
